Annual check-up
Precision in preventive care through modern ultrasound diagnostics
With extensive experience and high specialisation in gynaecological sonography (ÖGUM level II), I offer you particularly precise ultrasound diagnostics. This means that changes to the uterus and ovaries can often be recognised long before they can be felt – a decisive advantage when it comes to early diagnosis and prevention. Together with the smear test and the breast examination, ultrasound is a central pillar in gynaecological preventative care – and an important tool for protecting your health in the best possible way.
Gynaecological cancer screening
to recognise and prevent cervical cancer in good time
The incidence of cervical cancer (cervical carcinoma) varies greatly around the world. While in Israel around 5 in 100,000 women fall ill every year, in Austria the figure is around 9 and in the USA around 13 women per 100,000 (Status: 2023; Sources: Statistik Austria, GLOBOCAN and American Cancer Society 2023). These differences reflect one thing above all: the importance and availability of regular preventive care.
The so-called PAP smear in particular has made a significant contribution to reducing the number of cases in recent decades – a simple, painless examination in which cells are taken from the cervix using a brush. Regular screening allows cell changes to be recognised and treated at an early stage before they can develop into cancer.
My aim is to provide you with the best possible support – with state-of-the-art diagnostics, a trained eye and many years of experience. It is best to have your check-up once a year – for your protection and to feel confident about your health.
HPV vaccination counselling
for effective protection for you – and your children
Cervical cancer does not usually develop suddenly – but develops over many years from initially harmless cell changes. The predominant cause is an infection with certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), especially the so-called high-risk strains.
The most common risk factors include:
- an infection with HPV – the most significant risk factor
- a very early start to sexual activity
- frequently changing sexual partners
- smoking
- a weakened immune system and immunosuppression
The good news: There is an effective vaccination against the most dangerous HPV types. It offers the best opportunity to significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer and other HPV-associated diseases such as genital warts, anal carcinomas or certain mouth and throat carcinomas.
Vaccination is recommended from the age of 9. It offers the highest level of protection before the first sexual contact. The HPV vaccination comprises the administration of 2 doses (6 months apart) and is free of charge in Austria for people from the 9th to the 30th birthday – however, the free vaccination campaign is limited until the end of 2025 (more information). The vaccination also makes sense for sexually active adolescents or adults – I would be happy to advise you individually.
Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology
that is sensitive and age-appropriate
In girls, complaints in the genital area can have very different causes depending on age – often the symptoms are completely different to those in adult women. The course of many gynaecological diseases also differs significantly depending on age. This makes it all the more important to adapt the diagnosis and treatment to the age of the patient – with a great deal of empathy and medical specialisation.
I specialise in the gynaecological care of girls – from birth to young adulthood. In my practice, I create a safe environment in which young patients can feel at ease. As President of the Platform for Interdisciplinary Paediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Austria (PIKÖ), it is also very important to me to contribute to the best possible care for girls throughout Austria through targeted further training.
Contraception counselling
to find the method that suits you best
Choosing the right contraception is a very personal decision. It depends not only on medical factors, but also on your life situation, age, relationship, future plans and, last but not least, your own gut feeling. Together we can find the time to consider which method that is best for you right now.
Whether hormonal or hormone-free, long-term or flexible, whether contraception in adolescence, after the birth of a child or during menopause – every phase of life brings with it new questions and challenges. My aim is to provide you with personalised support, clear information and help you to make a good and safe decision for yourself. Contraception is more than just a medical issue – it means self-determination, safety and freedom. I look forward to accompanying you on this journey.
Fertility
Personalised support and medical assistance
A difficulty to conceive can be an emotionally challenging time for couples – characterised by hopes, questions and sometimes also doubts. In a personal conversation, I will take time for your questions and thoughts. Together we will discuss which initial steps are sensible, which examinations are recommended – and which options are available to support you in the best possible way on the way to your dream of having a child.
The clarification process usually begins with a so-called cycle monitoring, supplemented by a hormone analysis and a vaginal ultrasound. It may also be useful to check the patency of the fallopian tubes. It is also very important to examine the quality of your partner’s sperm by means of a semen analysis – because this can also be a possible cause of unsuccessful fertilisation.
Only when all the medical findings are available will we discuss together what further steps are sensible for you personally – such as gentle hormone stimulation or other supportive measures. If artificial insemination or in-vitro fertilisation is being considered, I work closely with specialised colleagues to whom I will refer you after careful preparation and a personal recommendation.
It is important to me to accompany you on this journey in a medically competent and empathetic manner.
Menopausal symptoms
Personal counselling on hormone-free therapies through to bioidentical hormone therapy
The time around the menopause is a phase of change for women – physically, hormonally and often also emotionally. Some people experience this phase of life almost without any symptoms, while others experience the first symptoms such as sleep disorders, hot flushes, mood swings or exhaustion years before their last menstrual period.
In a confidential conversation, I will take time to address your questions and concerns. Together we will discuss what options are available to alleviate discomfort – gently, effectively and tailored to your needs.
In addition to traditional therapeutic options, I also offer bioidentical hormone therapy. The structure of bioidentical hormones corresponds exactly to the hormones produced by the human body. As a result, they are particularly well tolerated and have a natural effect on the body. My knowledge of this is based on in-depth specific training with Prof. Dr. Katrin Schaudig in Hamburg – one of the leading experts in this field and President of the German Menopause Society.
The aim is for you to feel comfortable again and be able to enter this new phase of your life with confidence – and with exactly the support you need.
Gynaecological operations
according to the latest medical standards
Some diagnoses require a surgical procedure – such as conisation or a caesarean section, which I perform personally. For major or very specific operations, you benefit from my extensive network, which I have built up over many years of working in various clinical fields. For every medical requirement, I know experienced specialists who are familiar with the latest surgical methods – and with whom I maintain a close, collegial relationship. This means I can not only establish contact for you, but also assist you during the operation if you wish, and of course also provide aftercare.
It is important to me that you feel that you are in good hands, both medically and personally, during a procedure – with close support throughout all phases of treatment.
